The multi-axis motion control system was developed in the past half century. Now it iswidely used in the fields of automobile manufacturing, engineering machinery, numericalcontol machine tools, medical equipment, etc., which is a current research focus and forefrontdirection. In this paper a kind of multi-axis motion control system was designed and realized,and the running path was optimized by using the genetic algorithm and neural networkalgorithm. The algorithms have made the practical results.Firstly,the paper reviewed the multi-axis motion control technology, genetic algorithm,neural network algorithm development status and characteristics. Then the multi-axis motioncontrol system hardware design was completed, the overall design scheme was given by thereferences of the market information. The multi-axis motion control system was applied to theChinese character engraving machine. The specific control flow of the Chinese characterengraving machine was given. The Chinese character engraving machine interface operatingprocedures was given by using the VB program on the PC. Thirdly, the genetic algorithm andthe hopfield neural network algorithm for optimization problems were discussed. In order toslove the problem of chaos and long path in the process of engraving, the genetic algorithmand the hopfield neural network algorithm were improved and used in the engraving pathoptimization of the Chinese character engraving machine. The genetic hopfield neuralnetwork hybrid algorithm was given by combining the genetic algorithm and the hopfieldneural network algorithm, and the specific steps for designing the system were provided. Thegenetic algorithm and the hopfield neural network algorithm were improved and used in theengraving path optimization of the Chinese character engraving machine. The genetichopfield neural network hybrid algorithm was given by combining the genetic algorithm andthe hopfield neural network algorithm. Finnally the path optimization algorithms wasvalidated and analyzed by using the Chinese character engraving machine. The proposedmethod was proved to be able to improve the efficiency of the system.The Multi-axis motion control system has been successfully applied to the new robotteaching experiment development platform(chinese engraving machine scheme) the HunanFriend cultural Limited. By using the genetic hopfield neural network hybrid algorithm tocomplete the path planning, the total distance and total time of the system running waseffectively reduced, which improved the efficiency of the system. Experiments show that themulti-axis motion motion control system has good stability and control accuracy, which caneffectively improve the character engraving machine sports performance, which possess abroad market prospect.
