In the area of surface inspection of the crankshaft, manual inspection using semiautomaticdetection machine is the most common technology. However, this method can injury humanbody with the radiation of fluorescent light and may not guarantee quality of the product forvision becomes blur after long term observation, also needing high labor intensity. With thedevelopment of the information technology, the research of the intelligent detection device forcrankshaft’s defects has good implement.On the basis of analysing the flaw inspection methods and the reasearch status, themeasure of the intelligent detection equipment for crankshaft’s defects is proposed inthis paper. The detailed design of the main part is also given. This inspection equipmentgathers image using the embedded system, identifies the defects with the digital imageprocessing methods and separates the defect product by the electrical control system.In thispaper,we have finished the overall design of this system including mechanical system andelectrical system. We have specifically completed controller of image collection, controller ofcurrent as well as the PLC control system. The controller of image collection and recognitionis designed based on the Micro controller of S3C2440. We have finished the design of itshardware and embedded software system. The function of gathering image, transferring imageand recognizing image have been achieved on it. The controller of the current is used tocontrol the current in the process of magnetization and demagnetization, we have finished itshardware design and the software design. The upper computer control system which has thefunction of displaying the work and defects information and saving the defect information isdesigned based on VC6.0, it can also separate the bad products from good ones. The S7-200PLC is used to control the motor, valve and so on in this system. The experimental study andtheoretical research verify the effectiveness and the practical value of this design.
