In the wireless sensor network, the sensor nodes usually are provided energy by energy-limited battery due to the cost and size limit of sensor node, and it is difficult to replace the sensors’battery or recharge it, because so many sensor nodes and so hostile environment in the application network. How to make full use of limited network resources and guarantee the quality of network application and extend the whole network’s service time is the problem we must face.Firstly, the paper summarizes the reliable data transmission model and energy consumption model, through theoretical analysis we obtain the feature of data transmission about the protocols which based on the retransmission mechanism in the linear wireless sensor network. On the basis of above, we present a nodes deployment strategy which can ensure the reliability requirements of the network and improve the network lifetime. The theoretical analysis and experiment results show that, compared with nodes even deployment scheme, the proposed strategy ensure the reliability of the network and extends the network lifetime at least20%. The main research and results are as follows:1) In linear wireless sensor network, we analyze the data quantity and energy consumption of each node for the automatic retransmission N times protocol, SW ARQ protocol, SR ARQ protocol and GBN ARQ protocol using probability and mathematical statistics method under the condition of guaranteeing the network certain statistical reliability. And we calculate the data quantity and energy consumption in every period of collecting data in specific network.2) On the basis of above, we present a sensor nodes deployment strategy which can ensure the reliability requirements of the network and improve the network lifetime. On the nodes which undertaking more data and consuming more energy use small send radius, conversely, using large send radius. In brief, minimize the energy consumption of node whose energy consumption is the largest. The theoretical analysis and simulation results show that it can ensure the reliability and effectively balance energy consumption among nodes so as to achieve improvement on network lifetime. Finally, we summarize the research contents of this paper, and point out the future research direction and the idea.
