Repair and reconstruction of oral and maxillofacial is an open issue in the field ofthe medical field. Currently, some maxillofacial medicine image processing systemshave been used in the markets. But most of them are too expensive to afford. Frequently,the resultant data of maxillofacial imaging is the sequence of CT sectional images. Inthis thesis, CT maxillofacial organ segmentation algorithm and point cloud dataprocessing algorithm are studied and improved. A prototype system for maxillofacialCT image processing is developed as well.Based on the needs of hospital doctors, we have developed a maxillofacial CTimage processing software. From consideration of users’ needs, we analysis thefunctional requirements of software to accurate segmentation Maxillofacial organs,improve the interactivity and enhance medical image processing point of view. At thesame time, we describe the system requirements with using a natural language and casediagrams. Class diagram of the system and interface are designed and implementation.The system design goals and features are discussed in detail. We design the systemdetailed from the point of view of software engineering, including the design of eachfunctional module that requires algorithms and flow chart of program. Then, the systemis achieved via VS.NET2003. The detailed design of each step is achieved too. Finally,the system was tested by using black box testing and white box.Maxillofacial CT images processing prototype subsystem includes three mainfunctional modules, i.e maxillofacial CT image processing module, contour extractionmodule and points cloud data processing module. The system can be a good solution tothe current clinical problems of the maxillofacial medicine. It has some research value.
