Electromagnetic wave in V band is widely used in the fields of the inter-satellite communication and the ground nearfield communication. Meanwhile, electromagnetic wave in W band is generally used in the fields of the radar, the missile guidance technology and the electronic countermeasures. But with the frequency increasing, the output power of the single solid-state MMIC PA chip is limited in V band and W band, which is difficult to satisfy the system requirements and is one of the key factors restricting the development of application system.The research on power combining technology in V and W band holds great practical and strategic significance.This thesis makes a comprehensive analysis of the power combining technology, the rate-race rectangular waveguide bridge and the three-port matching waveguide power divider are analysed by even and odd mode theory.Based on the double probles microstrip-waveguide transition, a two-way wideband waveguide-based spatial power combining amplifier has made explorative research and is designed in V band. The power combining amplifier provides saturation output power more than21dBm in50.4-64.4GHz, the highest Psat is23.6dBm in51.8GHz, the Psat is22dBm in60GHz, the small signal gain is more than20dB in50-64GHz, with the broadband characteristic.A turnstiles-type coupler developed in W band provides a new approach for the design of multi-way power combining amplifier. The final measured results demonstrate that the amplitude imbalance of four output ports is less than1.3dB in88-99GHz and the isolation of the adjacent output ports and the opposite ports is approximately6dB and superior to16dB respectively. The results verify the feasibility of the structure in the W band.A four-way waveguide-based spatial power combining amplifier based on the cascade way of two-stage rate-race rectangular waveguide bridge is proposed, which is a good solution to the implementation problem of multi-way power combining amplifier in W band. Test results show that the saturation output power of the power combining amplifier is over253mW in89-97GHz, and the highest output power is437mW in 92.5GHz, the combining efficiency is better than60%in91-94.5GHz, the highest combining efficiency is72.7%in92.5GHz. This paper has reference significance to the development of the domestic W-band solid state power combining technology.
