In the electromagnetic wave, millimeter wave is positioned between microwaveand infrared. Compared with the infrared, the wavelength of millimeter wave is longerand millimeter wave can penetrate the cloud, the fog and so on. In addition, millimeterwave have the all-day’s working ability, especially in the adverse weather conditions,millimeter wave can work better than infrared and visible light. Compared withmicrowave, millimeter wave imaging has the higher resolution and the millimeter wavecircuit has smaller volume, so it integrates more easily.With the two advantages, millimeter wave imaging is especially suitable forapplication in security situation, medical diagnosis and so on. In recent years, with therapid development of millimeter wave devices, millimeter wave imaging has a widerange of applications. The research on the millimeter wave imaging used for personalsafety inspection is analyzed in this paper, which included the principle of themillimeter wave imaging and the design of millimeter wave transceiver circuit. Thework of the thesis includes the following parts.1. It introduces the characteristics of millimeter wave and the millimeter wave systems.It also relates the research progress of the domestic and foreign researchinstitutions about the millimeter wave imagine.2. Research on the active scanning millimeter wave imaging system. It analyzes theprinciple and method of the millimeter wave imaging system design.3. Research on the design process of the millimeter wave imaging system. Thespot-focusing lens antenna, the millimeter wave oscillator, the low noise amplifierand the millimeter wave detector are analyzed in the paper.4. The millimeter wave device are tested and optimized. It obtained the millimeterwave image by the imaging experiment.
