OPS have many advantages, such as high bit-rate switching, full transparencytransimission, reconfigurable, flexible configuration, etc. OPS not only break throughthe existing electronic bottleneck, but also make full use of the huge bandwidth ofWDM network. OPS can provide an ideal platform which supports diverse data serviceand have been recognized as a promising technology. Therefore, the study of the keytechnologies of optical packet switching is significantly important.In this thesis, the development of optical packet switching and current research athome and abroad has been introduced. And the architecture of optical packet switchingnetwork and its key technologies including optical packet generation, optical packetheader processing, optical packet competition and conflict resolution, optical switchingtechnology have been studied.A novel method which can implement optical virtual private network (OVPN) inan OPS network based on MPLS has been proposed. As the control layer in the OPSnetwork, MPLS can make OVPN packets transmit and switch through double-layerlabel switched path established by MPLS in OPS network, which makes the networkmore intelligent, flexible and reliable, while reduces the burden of packes forwardingprocess. According to the proposed network architecture, we establish a two-prioritytraffic queuing model to analyze the network capacity, throughput, delay time, packetloss rate of the program.A multi-functional SOA-based optical packet switching architecture has beenproposed, which mainly utilizes SOA_XGM effect to realize the optical switching orwavelength conversion function. The working principle of optical switching architecturebased on the SOA_XGM effect has been introduced in detail and the theoreticalanalysis and numerical calculation have been finished, too. And a simulation has beenperformed by OptiSystem software in order to test the performance of the proposedscheme and to verify its feasibility.
