This article traces the history of calculation mode and the origin and basic concept of cloud computing. Calculation mode has experienced three stages, including mainframe computing, micro computer and network computing. Cloud computing is the new form of network computing. The cloud computing does not appear suddenly, after network computing high speed development, it is necessary to solve the mass data processing and the construction of green data center. Cloud computing widely uses large-scale resource management techniques, virtualization techniques, dynamic resource allocation techniques, distributed file system techniques and green conservation management techniques. These techniques are derived from the existing mature technology, but Distribution according to need and invoicing According to the amount. Compared with the traditional model, cloud computing is more convenient, efficient and energy saving, its application effect is enhanced greatly. The author studies the basic concept of cloud computing, including the basic characteristics, service and deployment model, typical applications and business trends. For cloud computing basic concept and development trend, the author work on design and implementation for the cloud data center operating system, and will it as a postgraduate research topic. In the age of cloud computing, it is obvious that the socialization, specialization and Centralization for the data center are changing, the cloud data center operating system can better promote the development of the data center. The traditional operating system, manages these software and hardware resources of a single computer. Cloud computing operating system, manages these software and hardware resources in the data center.
