Recent years, along with global warming, there have a lot of global changes inthe earth, such as glacier melting and sea level rising. These changes affect humanlife harmful, which will cause a lot of natural disasters. Among the disasters causedby the sea level rising, submerging of coastal island and city is the most serious. Therefore, it is necessary to simulate and forecast the influencing area after the sealevel rising, which can provide reference for the related department that shouldtake some treasures to prevent the submerging by sea level rising to avoidunnecessary loss. The traditional plane data model couldn’t reasonably andeffectively meet the requirements of the Multi-Resolution submerging analysis. The global discrete grids based on regular polyhedron becomes a widely researchdirection. In this paper, QTM (Quaternary Triangular Mesh) based on octahedron is usedas research framework, and the key technologies about QTM will be discussed. Themain research includes that QTM topological relation computing based on basetriangle mesh; the partition of Multi-Resolution LOD based on QTM; theorganization of global DEM data based on QTM. At the same time, in the platformof multi-resolution digital terrain model based on QTM, according to the charactersthose different QTM resolutions have different triangle grids the Multi-Resolutionsubmerged analysis is studied considering the QTM topological relationship. Inthis paper, there are two submerging simulation methods: Connection areassubmerging method and QTM three adjacent search submerging method. Finally, simulation of global Multi-Resolution submerging is realized under the conditionof sea level rising is known. In this paper, Visual C#2008and Direct3D areselected as development tools, and the experimental system” The simulation of global Multi-Resolution submerging based on QTM” is developed, and the feasibleof the algorithm provided by this paper is verified.
