Battlefield communications has been the world’s military powers are valued by an area in which mobile Ad Hoc Networks with its unique characteristics from the early birth of the indissoluble bond with the military applications, and routing for mobile Ad Hoc network is the most important technologies. The current Ad Hoc network routing protocols in a variety of important routing strategy is based on table-driven, on-demand routing strategies and hybrid routing strategy. After the study we found that these existing routing protocols and data traffic in the node size larger network scenarios will produce a lot of control overhead, further consumption of limited network bandwidth resources, which will lead to network congestion, packets may be delayed even break away, which is bound to seriously affect the performance of routing protocols and network quality of service.Special applications for the battlefield, this paper proposes a fixed number of group members group, between the groups using on-demand routing strategy group nodes using hierarchical table-driven routing strategy, multi-channel routing protocols-packet-based hybrid routing protocol HGR(Hierarchical Group Routing)。 HGR protocol including group formation and maintenance, and routing of two parts. HGR protocol uses a fixed grouping, the Ad Hoc network all nodes are divided into three categories:high-level command nodes, head nodes and node members. There are several network groups and a number of senior command nodes, each group has a leader node and the node number of members. Head of the senior command nodes and between nodes can communicate directly, on-demand routing strategy; group hops between nodes communicate using the table-driven routing strategy; group with the group, the node needs to communicate with other nodes required by node where the leader of the team responsible for forwarding. Different layers using different communication channels. In so doing, the group can increase the efficiency of communication between members of the other data can be transmitted effectively distinguish. We use the NS2software HGR protocol simulation. The CBR business simulation results show that, HGR protocol to communicate with the group of internal communication efficiency, communication, real-time, communication between the groups when the good stability, more suitable for this particular battle, the specific environment.
