3D digital terrain is an important component of visualization systems and virtual reality. To be satisfied the market demand of the rapidly development of virtual reality and digital city technology, it is every essential to research the method of3D terrain generation and modeling technology which are rapid and high-quality realistic visual effects. This paper intends to construct forest terrain model, and realizes the browsing based on3D virtual scene, which will provide research application basic for virtual plan for forest area and forest digital landscape growth simulation. The main part of the thesis summarizes the classifications of DEM (Digital Elevation Model) and the commonly modeling methods based contours. Then described the basic theory of terrain model, contour modeling methods, satellite image analysis and model visualization in detail.We aim to research the model constructing methods based on contour to GRID model. This paper proposes a fast effective modeling method based on contour, which based on three Bezier curve interpolation subsection modeling. The method uses real terrain data, after exchanging contour data into matrix data, then scanning the key points to calculate controlling points, and using three Bezier curve interpolation to reconstruct the terrain model. This method experimental results show that in the reserves as the true terrain based on parameters, can be rapidly to the terrain of the forest modeling, and have good real natural effect. At the same time, the article analyses the satellite image of the corresponding contours, extracts relevant real geographic information, combined with the entity trees adding in terrain model, so as to realize the realistic geographical model.Then, according to the operator scanning and scanning in line two scanning methods we analyze satellite images on the corresponding contours respectively, extract some related real geographic information, the surface covering’s locations and form for example. Combined with the entity trees model, we add them onto the terrain model surface in order to realize the realistic geographical model.Finally, the article describes the method of3D visualization of the model, based on GRID realizing real-time display, interactive and dynamic navigation;3D terrain visualization, including interaction and animation, texture map and so on, realized the visualization of3D terrain landscape.In the end, using VC++6.0, OpenGL and MATLAB for all experiments, the essay gives experimental design and implementation for example, and has achieved some valuable experimental data and the ideal results.
