In railway control systems, because of the microelectronics of integrated facility of traffic control systems and train command systems, it is demanded that the electrical system for indoor equipment and railway traffic equipment should be operated stably and reliably. In this way, the potential differences between grounding electrodes of all electrical equipments can be eliminated. In the same time, in order to reduce the impact of signal equipment, and let the direct lightning and induction lightning discharge quickly and effectively before invading signal equipments. However, comprehensive transfixion ground wire, a kind of cable which is used to ground earth electrodes of electrical equipments in railway system, can meet the above requirements commendably. However, due to comprehensive transfixion ground wire often destroyed in places such as bridges and tunnels, and maintenance persons are not able to keep abreast of the work through comprehensive transfixion ground wire and repair it timely, which caused train traffic safety hidden troubles, and affect the normal work of other equipments or cables. Therefore, the research for comprehensive transfixion ground wire monitoring system is of great significance. According to working conditions and scene environment of comprehensive transfixion ground wire for bridges and tunnels, a remote monitoring program based on low-power microcontroller and GSM short messaging is proposed in this paper. Base on the analysis of relevant technologies, overall design is proposed, and hardware and software design for entire monitoring program is completed according to above.First, the problems comprehensive transfixion ground wire faced and how to solve these problems are introduced in this paper. Secondly, two monitoring programs, single point monitoring programs and monitoring program based on sensor networks were designed according to actual needs, and low-power and communication data format and the overall design of the single point of monitoring programs has been designed and completed. Then the technical principle and use of GSM communication network and SMS short messages are introduced in details. In the entire monitoring program, GSM communication network is used as a remote signal transmission platform, and data transmission is on the mode of SMS short message. The designed hardware for single point of monitoring programs use MSP430F149microcontroller and GSM communication module TC35i and passive current sensors as a core components and PC send and receive data through the serial communication control and GSM communication module in the part of on-site monitoring acquisition and indoor control part. In software designing, the indoor control part is designed in the environment of Microsoft Visual C++and the part of on-site monitoring and acquisition is achieved in environment of IAR Embedded Workbench by using the C language.Finally, simulation tests of the single point of monitoring programs is carried out, and analysis for test results is proposed. In low-power design and monitoring functions, using SMS short messages for transmitting monitoring and collection data meets the requirements, in which the inadequacies is the transmission amount of data is limited and continuous real-time monitoring is not available.
