Plasma display panel (PDP) as a new generation of display devices, has beenwidely applied in daily life. The accuracy of the electrode on the display panel iscrucial for the quality of the PDP. With the advancing of PDP technologies, therequirement of the electrode accuracy is getting higher. Photosensitive paste is theprimary materials for PDP electrode manufacturing. The preparation and properties ofthe photosensitive paste have been studied in this paper. The copolymer resin was polymerized by 3 kinds of monomers, the methacrylicacid (MAA), the methyl methacrylate (MMA) and the butyl methacrylate (BMA).The effects of the monomers constitution, the temperature, the monomersconcentration, the initiator content and the reaction time on the average molecularweight had been studied. The results of the orthogonal experiment showed that theorder of the effect factors are the initiator content, the monomers concentration, thetemperature and the reaction time. The results of the develop experiment showed thatthe paste has good developable property when the average molecular weight of thecopolymer is near 20000. The optimum conditions of synthesizing copolymer were asfollows:the temperature is 90℃, the monomers concentration is 25%, the initiatorcontent is 1.5% and the reaction time is 6h.The drying speeds of different organic solution systems were studied and themost suitable solution system for the photosensitive paste was decided. The UVcuring properties of the different initiators and curing monomers systems has beenstudied, the results showed that the paste prepared by trimethylol propane triacrylate(TMPTA), 2-methyl-1-[4-(methylthio)phenyl]-2-morpolinopropan-1-one (IR907) hasgood developable property.3 kinds of spherical silver powders with different average size were prepared asthe conductor powder for the photosensitive paste, and the developable and thesintering properties were studied. The results showed that the paste, using the silverpowders whose average size is between 1~2μm as the conductor powder, had gooddevelopable property. In order to meet the demand of manufacture process of PDP,PbO-SiO2-B2O3glass and Bi2O3-SiO2-B2O3glass was designed and prepared. The softening temperature of these designed glass was 400~600℃.
