The P2P network is gradually popular and it’s playing an increasingly critical role in the content delivery network. The opening and self-organizing mechanism of the P2P network provides flexibility and high efficiency. However, it also brings problems about authentication as well as difficulty of Piracy prevention. Those well developed DRM systems are no longer suitable for the P2P network due to the centralized authentication method. What’s more, the nodes in the P2P network might collude with each other to access the protected content. Hence a decentralized authentication protocol and Digital Right Management system to fit the special environment of P2P content delivery networks (CDN) is quite essential. In this paper, we propose a decentralized authentication protocol (HDAP) and reputation-based scheme against the collude piracy. Also, a Digital Right Management system which meets the need of the P2P CDN is built upon those two protocols. Comparing with the current system, HDAP consumes minute resources as merely simple computations of hash are required to verify the legality of the users. The colluders who share the content with pirates will be detected by a reputation-based scheme and their bandwidth will be taken up to prevent them from providing content to the pirates. Nodes will be occupied with the client puzzles before they can raise another request for content if they are suspected to collect authentication tokens to crack the system. HDAP can prevent the Piracy at an extreme low performance cost. It can run on varieties of P2P systems such as eMule, eDonkey, Morpheus etc with around 10%time delay and delivery cost of those public-key infrastructure (PKI) or Identity Based Signature (IBS) based authentication protocol and protects the content from illegal usage efficiently.
