The 2010 Shanghai EXPO is an unprecedented and influential event of economics, technology and culture. In order to provide the visitors with effective integrated information service, enable them to properly arrange their itinerary, ensure their safety, and enhance the service quality, it is necessary and urgent to design a system for multi-language integrated information service. The multi-lingual integrated information service system involves essential techniques including multi-language speech recognition, speech synthesis, and cross-media search. It creates new service methods of both human service and self-service. Through the natural language dialogue, it gives the EXPO visitors brand-new experience of information service. Meanwhile, it reduces the cost and pressure of human service.Based on the analysis of the current situation and trends of multi-language integrated information service, this paper further studies the techniques of multi-language speech recognition, speech synthesis, and cross-media search. Focusing on the requirement on information service of 2010 Shanghai EXPO, it proposes a design of the system with a general structure, analyzes the application scenes of the EXPO, and introduces the main functions of the system. In the meantime, it provides the conclusion, statistics and analysis on the progressiveness, creativity and effect of the design and application of the system. Through the analysis of the economical and social benefit brought by the multi-language information service system, this paper gives an outlook on the application of the achievements within the country.
