The optoelectronic countermeasure technology is being become the fastest growing field in optoelectronic countermeasures, and it has been invested much more than before. There are three spectrum bands, such as laser, infrared and visible light, which can be chosed as the work spectrum wave bands for optoelectronic countermeasure. According to the functions of the equipment, it can be classified into three types as follows: optoelectronic reconnaissance early warning, optoelectronic interference, optoelectronic anti-reconnaissance and anti-interference. Optoelectronic reconnaissance early warning is the most important equipment among them. The traditional warning system is aimed to provide remote detection with accurate target angle and distance information as early as possible. And it can quickly give out the threat level and warning. The passive detection methods of infrared or visible light imaging in the reconnaissance system have been widely used. Its core technology is that the equipment must possess the ability of dim target detection. But there are often a lot of false alarm targets detected by this kind of passive detection system. The system is unable to determine the real targets, and it has no ranging ability, as weaknesses in the application of early warning. But since modern times, with the laser rangefinder as a representative, the optoelectronic ranging technology has been widely used and has become the mainstream technology of the precision ranging. The classification of optoelectronic ranging technology can be divided into two types:passive ranging and active ranging. Because of its high confidentiality, passive ranging is very suitable for applications in military and other special fields. Stereo ranging is the more mature technology in passive ranging, which uses multiple optical lens to obtain the distance between the scence and observer by using the trianlge method of geometry. This method performs well in the measuring range and accuracy, thus it is widely used in practice. In this view, this paper put forwards a multi-objective early warning system scheme based on the technologies of dim target detection and binocular ranging. Two cameras with same parameters were fixed in parallel according to their optical axises, then two synchronized videos of the same scene were captured by them. The clutter estimation and inhibition algorithm was applied to detect the dim target in each image sequences independently with no leak alarm, then a target match strategy was used to find the real targets. At last, with binocular ranging algorithm, the distances of the targets were given out. After the stereo ranging technology and technology of camera calibration, which is focusing on the checkerboard calibration method and simulation of the method, was introduced. The Harris corner detection technology, the SIFT feature extraction and feature matching technology were presented respectively, and the simulation results were shown in this paper too. The SIFT algorithm has more advantages. In dim target detection stage, the background was considered as clutter. The clutter estimation and suppression algorithm was applied to suppress the background, then a multiframe integration detecteion algorithm was used to detect the targets. At last, the block diagram of the passive early warning system was presented based on the requirement of an optoelectronic countermeasure equipment. The simulation results of the two key issues, the binocular ranging and the dim target detection, were shown in section5.
