Stegnography is an information hiding method which focuses on embedding secret message into the cover image considering the image’s redundancy characteristic. While steganalysis focuses on detecting the suspicious image that if the image has been modified. The carriers used for steganography and steganalysis include image, audio, video, text and so on, where the BMP and JPG are widely used.In traditional steganographic methods, the embedding positions in the cover image are decided by a pseudorandom number generator without considering the relationship between the image content itself and the size of the secret message. Thus the smooth regions in the cover images will inevitably be contaminated after data hiding even at a low embedding rate, which will lead to poor visual quality and low security.Recently, an edge adaptive image steganographic method has been proposed, which can select the embedding regions adaptively according to the image content and the length of the secret message, and hold good visual quality and better security. However, from the extensive experiments to EA-LSBMR, computing the stego images’ horizontal or vertical pixel pair difference histogram, an impulse fluctuation occur in a certain position of the histogram. Based on the detailed analysis and experiments to EA-LSBMR, we finish two research work on steganography and steganlysis as follows:1、Based on the analysis of the EA-LSBMR, we propose a targeted steganalysis method of edge adaptive image steganography, and compared with two universal steganalysis methods, experiments prove that the targeted stegnalysis is effective in detecting EA-LSBMR.2、Focus on the shortage of the EA-LSBMR, and consider the theory of the EA-LSBMR, an improved scheme is proposed in this paper. Three experimental aspects, including the DFT analysis, image visual quality, and universal steganalysis detecting, prove that the improved steganography is superior than EA-LSBMR.
