Software testing is a key part of software engineering. It is accompanied by the generation of the software. It is the a critical step to ensure software quality and reliability. The purpose of software testing is to identify a variety of potential software errors and defects with a minimum of time and energy. Embedded software has became more and more complex with the popularity of embedded application. Meanwhile, how to improve reliability of complicated system and embedded software in the field of application is getting more valued widely. Due to the demand of complexity and reliability to embedded system, traditional manual development and test does not adjust to the progress of it, that’s why some automatic tools are badly needed to assist the development and test of embedded software.In this paper, the author has studied the techniques and implementation of embedded software automated testing. The concept and theory related to embedded software automated testing are expounded. On the basis of the analysis of several existing embedded software automated test model, embedded software automated testing framework (QEST) based Qtopia is proposed. The test system is presented in this paper with automation as the main line, including functional testing and unit testing with the use of cross-testing technology. Potential errors can be found through selection and design of different test cases and analysis of the final result. This article uses the enterprise project SCC50 screw compressors remote diagnostic system as the testing system.This article implements a embedded software testing system based on the test framework, builds a test platform based on Qtopia embedded system, detects the tested system, and displays the testing results in the form of tables and pie charts, the experiment results of which show that this testing tool is achievable efficiently.
