After several decades ulra-short laser pluse has been developed. Physical-/ chemical-/ biomedical-/ material-/ information-science have been developed dramatically as well. Recently utlra-short laser pluse needs to be shorter and shorter, even be measured by fs, as a result the standard of resolution of ultra-short laser pluse needs to be more specific. The measurements used usually base on photoelectron effect, chemistry fluorescence phenomenon, optical technology and so on.In this paper, the four different measurement techniques, the characteristic in mechanism and application, are discussed and analyzed. Through analyzing Frequency-resolved-optical-gating (FROG), the mathematical model of FROG gate which is based on polarization and cross-phase modulation (XPM) effect is derived. In the research of transmission characteristics of ultra-short laser pulses in photonic crystal fiber, the pulse propagation equation is optimized. The XPM-FROG ultra-short pulse measurement system with PCF is designed. The mathematical model of measurement system is derived, and a simulation program with Matlab is writen. For Gaussian ultra-short pulses of different chirp and complex pulse shape in time domain, a lot of FROG-trace is simulated. By analyzing simulation results, the XPM-FROG ultra-short pulse measurement system used by PCF is verified in this paper.
