Tobacco sorter System is designed to detect and remove foreign materials in tobacco. It increasedautomation, reducing labor intensity. It is important for improving the quality of tobacco products.And it can also enhance the competitiveness of enterprise.Tobacco Sorter System is a automated equipment based on machine vision. The algorithm it usesis based on color. So it is difficult to remove the foreign material which has the same or similar color.The issue studies texture features of the image in the frequency domain, and creates a detectionmethod based on support vector machine. This method can detect the foreign materials which the oldmethod can not detect.The issue studies the existing tobacco sorter system, and discusses its principles, structure and itsadvantages and disadvantages, and then proposes a new design for the system. The algorithm basedon support vector machine proves effective in detect foreign materials. Finally, for the detectionalgorithm, the issue proposed a new system design.
