With the development of network technology, its applications have become more and moreextensive. In addition to the fast-response requirement, network reliability is absolutelynecessary in some real-time mission-critical networked systems such as unmanned vehicles, military weapon systems, military command and control systems, process control networks, andaviation equipment. So the system’s fault-tolerant capability is required, which enables a systemto continue operating when parts of it fail. The dissertation adopts the communication interface standard NDIS which betweenWindows and network card driver to realize redundancy hot-standby system of two networkcards. There is no need to know the detailed hardware construction of network card, and theswitch side doesn’t need to make any changes. After installing the dual-network fault-tolerantmanagement software designed by this dissertation, the system can bind multiple physicaladapters of different manufactures and models, and a new virtual adapter is created. Thus there isonly one network card from the application’s angle, and hot-standby switching is irrespective ofapplications. The main contents of the dissertation are as follow: Firstly the dissertation roundly analyzesthe Windows architecture and network architecture, and studies on the OSI model and TCP/IPprotocol in particular. The dissertation analyzes and compares three layer drivers of Windowsnetwork, and then chooses a project to implement redundancy hot-standby based on theintermediate driver technology, after deeply studying and analyzing the intermediate drivertechnology. This project achieves that the IP address won’t change before and after switch, andthe physical address keeps the same in the process of switching, and the system could detect thefailure in real time and hot-standby switch automatically.
