High power diode laser, which bases on diode laser arrays, has high powerconversion efficiency, small volume, compact, low price and other notable features.So, it has been widely used in solid, fiber lasers pumping source research, direct diodelaser materials processing and other fields. Especially with continuously improve ofthe diode laser chips output power and beam quality; it has been used as indispensablelight source device in national defense, industry, and scientific research, civil usingand etc. However, the “Smile” of diode laser arrays severely influences the highpower diode lasers’ beam quality, which will limit the applications of high powerdiode laser.This thesis is based on the domestic and foreign research on the diode laser array“Smile” effect evaluation standard and its influence on beam quality. The paper haschosen the high power diode lasers, which is made by diode laser arrays. as theresearch object, and has taken it to perfect the existing array “Smile” effect evaluationcriteria and supply the research on how “Smile” effect of high power diode lasersaffect the beam quality as the main study purpose. Through theoretical calculation,simulation and experimental testing, the paper will perfect the existing “Smile” effectevaluation criteria and supply the research on how “Smile” effect of the high powerdiode lasers affects the beam quality.According to the diode laser beam characteristics, this thesis has established thesingle spot beam model, whose fast axis is Gauss distribution and its slow axis isHermite-Gauss distribution. Then the array beam propagation model is established.And the thesis deduces the influence of “Smile” effect on the divergence angle and thewaist radius of the fast axis direction, as well as the influence of different arraystructures on the beam quality. Through formula derivation and calculation, this thesisproves the “Smile” effect value, distribution and array structure affecting the arraybeam quality, which can’t be ignored.This thesis chooses self-packaging, single array, conduction cooled diode lasersas experimental samples. Through the optical and electrical property tests and thenear-field, far-field tests, the thesis combines the derivation of the beam qualityformula, tests and calculates many samples, verifies the effect of “Smile” and thearray structure on the array beam quality. At last, this thesis elaborates the problems, which has emerged during theexperiment, error analysis of theory and experiments. And it elaborates the software:‘LDA “Smile” measure1.0’, which is wrote in the process of experiment. Thesoftware can fit well with existing near-field scanning optical microscopy formeasuring the “Smile” value and distribution. Finally, through the results of theoryand experiments, this thesis supplement description of “Smile” influence on beamquality, and bases on the experimental results, point out what should be noticed duringthe progress of array packaging。...
