Research On Optimization And Design Of Spider Web Airline Network

The airline network plays an important strategic role in airline operation. The reasonableplanning about airline network is relationship with the airline’s future development. The spider webstructure of the US Southwest Airline has received general attation from civil aviation. However, thetopology and construction menthod of the spider web airline network has not yet formed a completetheorectical system.Based on the present situation of the civil aviation industry, this thesis studies the optimizationand the design of the spider web airline network, and analyzes the applicability and the characteristicsof the spider web airline network, then buids the opimatization model of the spider web airlinenetwork. The primary innovations are as follows:(1) Through the development process of the airline network, we summarize the advantages anddisadvantages of the airline network. Along the evolution of China’s airline network, we analyze thecurrent situation and the problem of our airline network model. From the formation process of thespider web airline network, we summarize the advantages of the spider web airline network. Base onthese, we analyze the applicability of the spider web airline network.(2) This thesis uses the complex network theory to analyze the topology of the spider webairline network, counts the topology performance of the spider web airline network—average pathlength, clustering coefficient and degreen distribution, analyzes the topological characteristics ofAmerican Airlne’s network and five top airline networks in China. This thesis uses the robustnessanalysis to research the robustness of the spider web airline network, which can help furtherunderstand the spider web airline network. Throgh the analysis of the topology and robustness of thespider web airline network, the scale-free features and robustness of the spider web airline networkare revealed.(3) Based on the analysis of the spider web airline network, the opitimization model of the spiderweb airline network is designed, a column generation algorithm for solving the model is proposed,and an example to improve the correctness and effectiveness of the new model and algorithmexecuted, which can provide a theoretical and methodological support to operate the spider webairline network for airlines.
