In array signal processing, beamforming is an extremely important area, the main research on thebasic theory includes: form the array vector from the direction of the receiver array; enhance thesignal to noise ratio through the spatial filter; estimate direction of the arrival receiver signal,distinguish the multi-target signal; create the conditions for locating the signal source. Themulti-target signal can be achieved for location and detection after the beam forming processing.This major work and the innovation are concluded as follows(1) Study of several signal models; descript the multi-path of shallow water acoustic channelcharacteristics briefly; overview of array domain high-resolution DOA estimation theory. Introducethe calculation and implementation steps of CBF, MVDR, MUSIC, ESPRIT and other methods, anddiscuss the beam domain high resolution DOA estimation in detail. Analyze both advantages anddisadvantages of each method by experiments and simulations in detal.(2) Describe two typical methods to differentiate from coherent sources, A novel beam domainToeplitz MUSIC algorithm is developed for coherent sources.(3) Investigate the structure and principle of beamformer which is based on the complex coefficientFIR filter with constant mainlobe response. Design the LMS FIR filter methods, and achieve to designthe constant beamwidth beamformer by this filter. Through the experiments and simulations of thedesigned filter it has a good approximation results.(4) Introduce a multi-target highlights echo model, and simulate the algorithm, the MUSICalgorithm has improved the angular accuracy and DOA estimation resolution than CBF algorithm.(5) Discuss several common distribution source models; considere of center DOA estimation andangular spread with one-dimensional coherent distribution source.
