Network technology research needs the support of rigorous experimental data,which requires the network experiments should be run in a real or near real networkenvironment. Hence, the network experimental platform has a major significance tonetwork technology research. To improve the network experimental platform’sefficiency, developers tend to use virtualization technology to allow multipleexperiments sharing the physical resources and running on the same networkplatform.In this paper, we study the network experiment platform with networkvirtualization technology. We design and implement a virtual networkexperiment platform. This platform could support multiple virtual subnetrunning simultaneously over a shared infrastructure, could deploy theexperiments from the network layer to application layer, could manage theexperiment and resource automatically. We also provide an interface to queryand analysis the network status. We demonstrate the platform’s effectivenessby some practical experiments.How to assign the physical resources to the experiment network whilemeeting the constraints of nodes and links is key issue to network experimentplatform. This is called the virtual network mapping problem. This paperproposes an improved two-stage node mapping algorithm. In our algorithm,we consider the location constraints, improve the existing node repeatablealgorithm and combine the node resources migration and link splitting.Simulation results show that the algorithm reduces the consumption ofphysical links, improves the utilization of physical resources and enhancesthe acceptance ratio of virtual network requests.
