Computer technology, communication technology and sensor technology contributed a lot to the rapid development of wireless sensor networks. Low cost, ease of deployment, perceptual ability, self-organization and other features have greatly promoted a wide range of applications in military, environment and other areas. With the wide applications of sensor networks, a lot of security requirements have been proposed. Security has become a bottleneck for wireless sensor networks’ further development and application. Key management is the core issue in the security of wireless sensor network. Many works have been done in this area. Key pre-distribution mechanism is the mainstream in key management for wireless sensor network. It can be divided into two categories: deterministic ones and probabilistic ones. Based on probabilistic and deterministic ideas, this paper proposes two schemes with high connectivity and resilience which employs logical grouping and deployment knowledge. The main works in this paper are as follows:(1)This thesis performs comparative analysis of deterministic key pre-distribution schemes and probabilistic key pre-distribution schemes; points out their advantages and disadvantages; finds basic hints to reach high connectivity and security for key management scheme; conducts in-depth theoretical analysis and experimental validation in classical key management scheme with high connectivity rates and security.(2)This thesis presents a novel key management scheme based on grouping and crossing classification for wireless sensor networks. It is grounded on logical group and inspired by Blom’s Scheme .Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the scheme has a high security and connectivity, but it lacks scalability.(3)This thesis further proposes a key management scheme based on polynomial and deployment knowledge. It is inspired by the good performances of polynomial in Blundo’s scheme and the benefits of expected deployment knowledge. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the scheme not only has better security and connectivity, but also has better scalability.
