In the information society, everyone must have the basic quality of information literacy. As the main force of China’s information society, higher vocational students’information literacy raise are important for the development of society and personal. In our country, the information retrieval course is an important and effective way to enhance information literacy. In a certain extent, information retrieval course in higher vocational colleges can improve the information literacy of the higher vocational students (especially the improvement of information retrieval ability), but there are still lots of problems in the current vocational college information retrieval teaching. A new teaching idea-blended learning which is as a rational thinking on the traditional classroom teaching and a reflection of the network teaching, has gradually developed. Blended Learning has brought opportunities for the reform of vocational information retrieval course teaching.To explore how to apply blended learning in vocational information retrieval course teaching, according to the actual situation of the vocational information retrieval course and the learning need of the higher vocational students, the author has analyzed the necessity and feasibility of applying the blended learning in the vocational information retrieval course, constructed blended learning model for information retrieval course in higher vocational college under the guidance of learning theory. To support the network teaching of the mode, the author has designed and developed Moodle network learning platform for helping the class teaching of vocational information retrieval course according to the platform’s need and a certain guiding principles. To verify the effectiveness of blended learning model for information retrieval course in higher vocational college, the author has selected the students of Chongqing Industry polytechnic college to carry out one-month trial application of teaching research, and at the end of the Blended Learning mode teaching, using the methods of questionnaire,observation.interviews to analyze and summarize the blended learning effect in detail.Teaching Practice has proved that blended learning model for information retrieval course in higher vocational is effective, to a great extent,to improve the learners’learning interest and learning enthusiasm, to promote their learning of information retrieval course, to have more learning opportunities for the operation and practice of information retrieval skills. At the same time,to a certain extent, also an effective solution to bridge the gap between the practical application of knowledge and vocational information retrieval, to enhance vocational students information literacy.
