Nowadays, with the rapid development of science and technology, and continuous updating of knowledge, people are required to have very strong learning ability. Therefore, in practical teaching, we propose that to cultivate students’ autonomous learning ability in composition is to improve the students’ ability of study, so as to benefit students the whole life. Quality-oriented education has been advocated in our country for nearly ten years, which has gained fruitful results in the theoretical research. Autonomous learning in composition is responding to the requirements of quality-oriented education. In the aspect of language learning, writing can help to reflect the students’ Chinese comprehensive level, and the language proficiency test is closely linked to composition test. Composition is so important that it not only appears in the entrance examination of high school and university, but also is a must in the selection of civil servants and other job competitions. This is why composition learning is a top priority in Chinese language learning. However, in the teaching effect, the composition teaching takes too long to reach fruition; in curriculum setting, there are not enough class hours for composition; in teaching contents, no systematic content of courses is designed, and no clear guidance of composition teaching is even provided. Composition teaching exist a lot of problems. Therefore, the author of the present paper believes that students of senior high school should strengthen their autonomous learning ability in the process of composition study, which helps to solve a series of teaching problems.This study, based on the analysis of the composition teaching situation and existing problems, claims that learning composition should focus on cultivating students’ autonomous learning ability, and expounds the relevant theoretical basis, and according to the related theory, tries to construct an analysis framework of autonomic learning ability in composition, in order to provide an assessment tool and guidance for students’ composition learning. This paper is divided into four parts:the first part introduces concept origin, the significance of the study, the concept definition, the line of thinking and the methods; The second part puts forward the related theoretic framework of autonomous learning ability in composition writing; The third part analyzes the factor structure of autonomic learning ability in composition writing; The last part attempts to build an analysis framework of high school students’ autonomous learning ability in composition and gives some examples to account for its application.In a word, the present paper puts an emphasis on cultivating autonomous learning ability and builds its analysis framework, so as to change the current situation of poor, slow, and bad composition study, improve the efficiency of composition study, provide a tool to guide and assess the autonomous learning ability in writing and finally develop and improve students’autonomous learning ability in composition.
