Negation is one of important expressions in linguistic communication‘不’and‘没’are the most frequently used negative adverbs in modern Chinese. But due to its complexity and characteristics, it is apt to cause confusion when students are learning Chinese as a foreign language.One’s mother tongue influences how they learn foreign languages. We focus on this matter to support Chinese language teachers to develop more effective methods for teaching‘不’and‘没’.This paper compares characteristics of negation of both Chinese and Korean, analyzes the patterns of misused‘不’and‘没’by Korean high school students then presents alternatives to teaching‘不’and‘没’.This paper consists of6chapters as follow.Chapter One introduces the significance of this study, related achievements by others, study method and novelty of this paper.Chapter Two presents comparative analysis for both Chinese and Korean negative phrase.Chapter Three considers9authorized Chinese textbooks for Korean high school students in terms of‘不’and‘没’and surveys students’ level of understanding of Chinese negative adverbs.Chapter Four analyzes patterns and causes of misusing‘不’and‘没’by Korean high school students.Chapter Five provides alternatives for how to teach‘不’and‘没’more effectively in aspects of teacher, class and textbook.Conclusion summarizes this study and presents the conclusion the paper.
