High school students’ chemistry study is based upon the existing knowledge and lifeexperience, before students learn chemical concepts, ideas and cognitions in students’ mindsare different from scientific concepts, which is caused by individual dissimilarities. Suchideas and cognitions are called alternative conception. alternative conception, which isinconsistent from scientific concepts, is unfavorable for students to understand newknowledge, solve problems and block learning process. Large amount of teaching practiceand research prove that high school students have alternative conception towards chemicalreaction rate and relevant concepts. If the alternative conception cannot be corrected, thestudy of chemical reaction limitation and chemical equilibrium would beinfluenced.accordingly. The teaching of chemical reaction rate, as basic knowledge, shouldbe paid high attention. During the teaching process, it is necessary to adapt the conceptualconversion teaching strategy, to improve understanding and controlling scientifically.This study uses the research results of alternative conception for reference at home andabroad, and make literature review of research results. Based upon the analysis of chemicalreaction rate, this study summarizes the causes of alternative conception and offers teachingsuggestions, combining comparison and analysis obtained from the alternative conceptionquestionnaire of chemical reaction rate. The questionnaire searches the existed alternativeconception and is carried out among all three grades.This paper is divided into five parts, detailed contents are as follow:The first part introduces the research background, proposes the issue, and concludesthe objective and value of the study.The second part tells the literature review, including achievements at home and abroadand the forecast of the research trend.The third part represents the knowledge of chemical reaction rate, consisting of course standard and multiple analysis of textbook.The forth part demonstrates the test results and analysis of causes obtained fromalternative conception questionnaire of chemical reaction rate.The fifth part proposes the teaching suggestions according to the research results andanalysis of causes.
