| Cooperation has become the ability which we must master in the process ofinternationalization, and cooperative teaching is an essential teaching method incontemporary education. The education of junior middle school is a bridge whichplays a linking role. So we should pay full attention to students’ education problemsin this stage. How to make English reading teaching in junior middle school achievegood effect is always a problem of most English teachers in junior middle schoolduring the practice exploration. At present, the new curriculum reform has explicitlyproposed to cultivate students’ cooperative consciousness and develop students’cooperative ability. English Curriculum Standards (2011) emphasizes that Englishcourses need to consider the students’ reality, increase the students interest in learningand improve the students’ practical ability in use. In order to remedy the deficiency ofthe traditional teaching method, the author has selected the new method of“cooperative teachingâ€---the jigsaw method.This thesis mainly explores the feasibility of using jigsaw method in currentEnglish reading teaching in junior middle school. The research mainly uses theliterature method, experimental method, questionnaire method and interview method.Firstly, the thesis introduces the background information of research to illustrate theproblem of the current English reading teaching in junior middle schools, so it isnecessary to find a suitable method of reading teaching. Then, the concept of readingstrategies and cooperative teaching, the development, related research of abroad anddomestic research status and other issues are respectively described. Through theanalysis of the advantages of jigsaw method and conditions for implementation, thethesis illustrates the feasibility of applying the jigsaw method in junior middle schoolEnglish reading teaching. And through specific teaching cases, it focuses on thedetailed description of the experiment of jigsaw in junior middle school Englishreading teaching, and it also illustrates the procedures of group assignment, taskdivision and evaluation are elaborated. After carrying out the jigsaw method teachingin experimental class students, the data analysis results of academic performance, questionnaire and interview show that the jigsaw method enhances students’self-confidence, strengthens the cooperative ability and improves the learningachievement. This shows that using jigsaw method is effective in junior middle schoolEnglish reading teaching. |
