| With the development of global economic integration, China’saccession to the WTO in November2001and a successful OlympicGames in August2008, English learning gets more and more attention ofChinese people. Entering the twenty-first century, English’s position inthe stage of basic education in China gradually be taken seriously. In2001, China promulgated the "ministry of education on promotingelementary school open English course of instruction opinion"(hereinafter referred to as "opinions"). Since the fall of2001, city andtown primary schools in our country set English course step by step. Thefall of2002, the township located elementary schools set English coursegradually. So far, English course in primary schools has been set upthroughout our country.Learning any language is from phonetic learning, that is to say,learning pronunciation is the foundation of language learning, andmastering a foreign language of speech sound accurately is helpful tolearn the vocabulary and grammar of the language."Opinion" points outthat the purpose of the primary school English course is: According topupils’ physiological and psychological characteristics and developmentneeds, the purpose of English teaching in primary school is to stimulatingstudents’ interest in learning English, cultivating their positive attitude oflearning English so that they can establish initial confidence in learningEnglish, cultivating students’ language sense and the foundation of goodpronunciation and intonation; making them form the ability ofpreliminary simple daily communication in English, and laying thefoundation for further learning. Therefore, learning English phonetics inprimary school is a must. Pupils’ learning pronunciation situation has caused the attention ofthe state department of education, all kinds of schools at all levels,and theteachers and parents. However, most of the primary school learn Englishphonetics in class nowadays.After-class English phonetics learning willnot catch any attention basically. But language learning is a process ofcoherent and must be through elementary school English inside andoutside the classroom. Therefore, this article investigats the currentsituation of the extracurricular English phonetics learning and putsforward relevant suggestions to improve students extracurricular Englishphonetics learning level.This article is divided into six parts altogether:the first chapter--theintroduction part, emphasizes the the significance of pronunciationlearning, learning, and the primary school English phonetic learning, andanalyzes which the school extracurricular English phonetics learningproblems are; The second chapter—the literature review, reviews thetheory of speech at home and abroad,the study of language learningproblems in learning a second language course, and discusses the lack ofrelated research. In this chapter also introduces the studyideas,methods,and value of this article. Third chapter expounds the4-6grade primary school students from Beiyuan primary school in Hohhot asthe object to investigate, and the process and results of the nine Englishteachers’ interview in this school.In the fourth chapter points out thepresent situation of primary school extracurricular English phoneticslearning, and a detailed analysis of the present situation. Chapter five isbased on the analysis of problems in the previous chapter, puts forwardreasonable suggestions. The last chapter expounds the limitations of thisstudy and the insufficiency, and puts forward some hope in the later studyto make further improvement. |
