Studies Of Role-play In English Teaching And Learning In Rural Middle School

As a metropolis, Shanghai is attracting more and more people to work and study.With them, there are students who come here to study in middle schools, most ofwhom study in rural middle schools in Shanghai. Considering this, this thesis aims atresearching an effective way for English study to improve students’ listening andspeaking abilities on the basis of the new standard of English learning and teaching.How to cultivate a relatively real language learning environment which motivateslearners to learn is a problem waiting for educators to work out. Thus, we should havenew teaching method to meet the needs and solve the problem of low efficiency andsilence English. Through long-term research and practice on both students as well asEnglish teachers in the rural school the author teaches, one activity which van be usedto simulate the sorts of communication tasks which learners will be required toperform in the real world is role play. Before the essay, lots of researches have beenmade in senior high schools or colleges, but few are concerned with the role play injunior middle school. Fewer are concerned with those students with low level in ruralareas. Therefore, the essay intends to help teachers to utilize role play to improvestudents speaking skills by giving practical guidance and step-by-step advice.
