Line dance is a dance, is also a kind of movement, is also a kind of culture. It sets the dance, sport, music, art as one and have a wide range of fitness, entertainment and popular. In recent years, line dance breaks out like bamboo shoots after a spring rain in our country, and gradually into the university classroom. In terms of the development of line dance in Xi’an University,the relevant theoretical study and the mastery of the technology is relatively weak, and plus the lack of publicity, which lead to a lot of problems in line dances’teaching, training, activities’ development,popularization and promotion. This paper mainly adopts the methods of literature, field survey, questionnaire survey, expert interviews, logical analysis and mathematical statistics method to investigate and analyze the teaching situation of universities in Xi’an City. The results show that:1. Line dance courses of Xi’an University are in the lower rate and the development trend is unbalanced. Academy and under-second undergraduate course have no line dance courses, the key university and ordinary university have a good development and have a trend to further expand. Survey shows that line dance movement is suit to develop in colleges and universities. The main reason to cause lower rate of classes is that the line dance as a new sports, the leaders of the institutions and teachers don’t know well about it.2. At present, the teaching of line dance course in Xi’an University has no unified teaching material or outline, no complete teaching files. The teaching contents of line dance are chosen by each college are mostly based on the content what teachers have learned in the line dance training, including basic steps, action terms, line dance profiles and so on.3. The main teaching form in Xi’an University is mainly elective course; the class hour in one year of line dance is about36. Line dance teaching method and means is so only, that is the teacher explained, demonstration and the students practiced. The assessment for students depends mainly on summative assessment, mainly aimed at the master degree of skill to evaluation and ignores students’grades at ordinary times and their class performance. The conditions of line dance site are good in Xi’an University, the sites are mostly in the interior and students are more satisfied.4. Line dance teachers in Xi’an University are mostly female teachers; the proportion of the teachers whose original special is line dance is almost zero. All of the teachers come from other specials and the age structure of the whole distribution is more reasonable that mainly are middle-aged and young teachers. Because of line dance teachers have less chances of training and learning, their knowledge structure tends to aging, so line dance teacher’s technology and theory research needs to be improved.5. Line dance movement started late in Xi’an University, Class-odd exercise and competition activities are less, the popularize strength is not enough, the number of teacher training and the mastery lever of their skill are limited.This article puts forward specific solutions in view of the relevant issues of line dance development in Xi’an Universities:1. Increase publicity efforts, change ideological understanding.2. Establish feasible training mechanism of line dance in University.3. Perfect the construction of the teaching staff, improve the quality of teachers’ team. Improve line dance teachers’ professional quality; Strengthen line dance teacher’s study of the theory and change teachers’ teaching idea.4. Reasonable standard teaching system. Optimize the teaching content, standard unified teaching material. Optimize the teaching evaluation system and assessment method. Encourage competition and incentive mechanism, build a good school cultural atmosphere.
