Abstract/Summary:
This article reports the writing teaching and learning in senior high school of China, and an experiment conducted to examine whether the length approach could cultivate the interest of English learning and improve the grade of composition and analyze what effect will have on students’grammar learning. Based on the length approach which was raised by Professor Wang Churning and the results of other researches, the experimental study lasted eight months with the main experimental stage form October,2010to July,2011. Because of the limitation, quasi-experimental research mode was used in the experiment. Two similar classes were selected and divided into an experimental class and a control class. Pre-test and post-test were conducted during the experiment. The length approach were used in the experimental class and traditional writing-teaching method was used in the control class. The effect was to be reflected through contrast of the experimental results of this study. The results of the experiment show that the length approach has enhanced students’consciousness of individual study as well as helped them have a better use of new-learned grammar and structure and get a better grade.
