| In past ten years, the rate of doctors’ delaying their studies has been over55%in our country. It even reached to60.86%in2010. Investigating the doctors in the42graduate schools, it shows that68.3%doctors couldn’t complete their studies in three years. And there are10.74%doctors whose time limit of learning has been over five years. The data indicates that the phenomenon is common and growing worsen, which the doctors delay their studies in our country.It learns that the proportion of the doctors completing their studies in three years is the highest in the doctors who won the outstanding papers, based on analysing one hundred outstanding papers in the whole country in2010and2011. It is56.6%. However, with the time limit of learning extended, the number of doctors who get outstanding papers is smaller. The analysis based on data from reviewing doctoral papers in east China normal university indicates that with the time limit of learning extended, the scores of reviewing doctoral papers are lower and lower. And the scores of reviewing doctoral papers completed in three years is the highest. This demonstratesthat prolonging doctoral time limit of learning doesn’t promote the quality of thesis directly.The research shows that deferring studies is not the effective way to promote the quality of doctors. And deferring studies massively not only waste students and teachers’ time, money, intelligence and emotion, but also damage the fairness of education probably.The article shows that there are seven factors influencing doctors’ delaying their studies. They are motives of studying for a doctorate, pattens of study, preparation of papers, guidance of tutor, rules of publishing scientific research, polices of scientific research funds and employment situation. There are six ways to solve doctors’ delaying their studies. First, reform doctoral enrollment system. Second, pay attention to the direction of tutors. Third, improve link of doctoral cultivation. Fourth, improve and perfect policy of funding. Fifth, normalize procedure of applying for deferment. Sixth, strengthen the rights and duties of institute and so on. |
