Nowadays, the most challenging thing in education is the high requirement of elitepeople. Thus the leading power of education-teacher becomes more and more important.Therefore, the requirement of teacher becomes higher and higher. But what kind ofteachers can be called qualified ones is still unknown. So many scholars have studied onthis theme.But most of the studies have focused on it theoretically. The author thinks that thisproblem should be studied both from the students’ and teachers’ point of view. In thisway, we are able to have a clear understanding on qualified teachers and solve thecurrent problem.To solve this problem, the author has done a survey among the260students andteachers. The research questions can be classified into the following four:1. in theopinion of students, what kind of characters a qualified teacher should have.2. Inmiddle school teachers’ point of view, what kind of characters a qualified teachershould have.3. What can we get from the answers of the previous two questions.4.What should be included in the “standards on qualified Middle School teachers”.From the answers the author finds out there is difference between students and teacherson this problem.1: In students’ mind, the qualified teachers should have different waysof teaching toward each different student. And they wish that teachers should have highstandard on their professional field in both broad knowledge scale and high skills.Finally, teachers should have clear target in their teaching and get on well with studentsduring the course.2. In the teachers’ mind, they put more importance on theirprofessional knowledge and skill among all things.3. From the previous two questionsthe author finds out there’s difference between the expectation from students andteachers. But the difference is always ignored and has a negative influence towardseducation.4the standards of qualified middle school teachers should include thefollowing basic idea: the moral standard of teachers at the first place, the emphasis oncapability and learning regarded as lifetime task. This paper is composed of the following parts. Chapter one is the introduction,which gives the background, purpose of the study as well as the importance of the study.Chapter two is the theoretical basis and literature review, which introduces relativedefinition and theory, looks back to the previous studies in the field of standard ofqualified middle school teacher. Chapter three is the method of study which mainlyinvolves the questionnaire design and way of implementation. Chapter four is theanalysis and discussion on result of the questionnaire, which contains questionnaireresult and discussion conclusion. Chapter five is the conclusion, which states the mainfindings of this paper, and points out the limitations of the study, gives somesuggestions to future studies on this subject.
