The Confucius institute is a non-profit Chinese-foreign cooperative education institution and its main purpose is to spread Chinese culture. With support from the government, the Confucius institute has spread all over the world, grown in size, and gradually attained an increasing influence in the international communication between cultures.This article is based mainly on the use of the field surveys, questionnaires, in person interviews, literature materials, in-depth comprehensive analysis of mathematical statistics from the Confucius institute in Bergen’s present situation of the wushu course, and, finally, on how to improve the wushu curriculum and the means of teaching at the Confucius institute in Bergen. Through the research the following conclusions can be drawn:In the world, a third of the Confucius institute opened the wushu coures. Confucius institute of Bergen had cooperation with Beijing sport university, the success will wushu as the promotion of characteristic project.Currently the Confucius institute of Bergen has a team of professional teachers, a relatively rich and complete teaching content, and a reasonable method of teaching. But, at present, the wushu course of the Confucius institute has problems such as:a need to further improve the teaching, a lack of uniform standard with regards to the teaching content and the evaluation system, incomplete promotion and advertisement, and a room for improvement in the communication between the government departments. There is also a lack of wushu culture and other culture related activities.A future aim should be to strengthen the Confucius institute, the promotion of the wushu course, increase the number of students, improve the martial arts related government department cooperation, and put the Confucius institute’s teaching and examination into a system. These are the goals the Confucius institute should strive to improve in order to improve its direction. The Confucius institute is highly helpful in opening up for the spread of wushu overseas, and it also provides a new and good platform for doing so. On the one hand, the Confucius college offers a convenient way of training wushu, that also saves time and money, while at the same disposing a rich teaching content, and this, in turn, stimulates the growth of the Confucius institute; On the other hand, it also offers a rare and great opportunity to spread wushu overseas. By offering wushu courses in more Confucius institutes, more people can understand and learn wushu, which in turn will play a great role in its spread overseas.
