Research Of The Construction Of Regional Characteristics Of Research-oriented Universities

With the continuous enhancement of the development trend of China’s higher education regionalization and the further improvement of University social services functions, the new requirements have been proposed to local universities for regional economic development. The relevant local university regards building the characteristic research university in the area as the idea of running a school of new periods, this strategy not only meets the need of making universities’own positions scientifically and rationally, but also meets the need of promoting the capability of running a school and enhancing core competitiveness. The proposing of the construction goal of regional characteristics of research universities not only can break the "stereotyped school" pattern of China’s higher education at present,and correct "large" scale of running a school, but also have far-reaching meanings in promoting whole comprehensive strength and standard for running a school in the local universities. This paper regards Guangxi University as the concrete example to build practice research to the regional characteristics of research-oriented universities.This paper employs SWOT to analyze Guangxi University and evaluate its advantages, disadvantages, opportunities and threatens, to form a SWOT analysis matrix of Guangxi University. This paper finally proposes an integrated conception to construct Guangxi University into a high-level regional characteristics research-oriented university. The following statements are carried out from three aspects, which are development strategy, construction content and security mechanism.The innovative points of this paper are as follows. Firstly, the research of regional characteristics research-oriented universities is rare, and this paper provides evidences for the construction of regional characteristics research-oriented universities by exploring some key standards and assuring the connotation and features. Secondly, taking Guangxi University as an example, this paper explores a path for the development of universities in less developed areas and gives pointed advices to heal the deficiency. Thirdly, this paper carries out the study from various angles and analyzes the classification and orientation of universities, the directions of service, the universities-running characteristics and the path construction from a multi-dimension angle and tries to provide a comprehensive study vision.
