Currently, the state and society demands and needs of higher education increased gradually, so not only expanded the scale of development of Chinese universities, but also intensified the competitive pressures of their society. How to learn and absorb advanced foreign universities and educational philosophy, while reasonable system elements, their faces clearly recognized the special institutional background and constraints, efforts to improve the overall level of university teaching staff and the job performance and thus enhance the quality of teaching and the University of scientific research, university administration has become a central part of the work. On the current status of view, the reason why our universities are world-class university with a large a gap, and the university with the job performance of teachers lags far behind the developed countries are inseparable, mainly in the wrong positioning of the work, a clear understanding of performance, assessment and management efforts is not strong low level of several aspects, has seriously hampered the cause of a major reform of university education, great development and great prosperity. So only a comprehensive understanding based on the performance of university teachers on the basis of its basic features can be based on the actual situation in order to take full specific measures or methods to stimulate and improve the performance of university teachers, and thus promote the development of higher education to world-class forward.In this paper, to judge a university teacher closely around the concept of work-the performance of university teachers working under the premise of the work of the first characteristics of the university teachers and their identity in a detailed description, that the university teachers is a high IQ and high EQ elite group, bear a significant social impact of social responsibility and broad, showing a unique occupational characteristics and work characteristics; in the definition of "job performance of university teachers" concept, based on the performance of university teachers should make the results of performance, behavioral performance and potential performance of these three aspects for understanding and mastering; Given the special nature of the work groups of university teachers, university teachers that performance with a lot more complicated because of the difference between the multi-dimensional, dynamic development, invisible and difficult to determine the lag of the five the basic features; modern university as a typical "dual governance" organizations, universities, teacher performance mainly by individuals, organizations and social impact of these three factors. To study the basis of conclusions, this article is to help the Government or the University itself to a comprehensive and correct understanding of university teachers and the basic performance characteristics, and based on the current performance appraisal criteria, content and other aspects of the lack of measures to make reasonable and timely adjustment and improvement to mobilize the performance of university teachers initiative and enthusiasm to achieve the University’s strategic objectives, and then taking off to achieve the Chinese University.
