The ideological and political education which has great significance in guiding the students’overall development, is an important aspect of higher education, It is facing new situations and new problems. To further strengthen and improve ideological and political education of college students, we should explore and practice from the educational content, methods, tools, mechanisms and carrier aspects.The volunteer service is the most popular activities in colleges and is also a very important university cultural phenomenon. It is an important way for college students to achieve the education about their own outlook on world, life and values; cultivate good moral training; improve the spiritual realm and self-educate. It is conducive to carry out the work of ideological and political education.This article is about the ideological and political education research, which as a carrier of voluntary service. But at the same time, it cannot do very well because of some problems inherent.The fifth part puts forward the way of improving volunteer service, strengthening the university student’s Ideological and Political Education. To achieve the voluntary service’s function of Ideological and political education, we must overcome the problem of current presence. Whether students or college ideological and political educators should have accurate cognition and orientation on volunteer service. And also, improve the existing organization system, strengthening the volunteer service brand, base construction, ensure the volunteer service to play a role of carrier stably and effectively.
