| With the quick development of science and technology, the transmission of informationis not only by the single text or language modality, but through multiple modalities, iemultimodality which includes bulletin, picture, audio and video modality. This is also thephenomenon in the English classroom teaching.This research takes the excellent examples of English classroom teaching as the subjectsof the study. It aims to firstly analyze how the excellent English teachers of junior schoolapply teaching modalities to develop the classroom activities and secondly describe thefeatures of multimodality classroom teaching. Furthermore, the research tries to guide themultimodality teaching and to improve the effectiveness and quality of the teaching.The author collects15videos of classroom teaching. While viewing the videos, theauthor makes use of the record charts to take notes of the key points and valuable information.After recording, the author collects the data and carries out the data analysis.The result of data analysis indicates that the excellent English teachers apply multiplemodalities to classroom teaching, including language, text, picture, bulletin, audio and videomodality. Among the modalities, language is the most widely used modality. Text modalitycomes to the second place. Another finding is that multimodality classroom teaching hascommon features as mentioned in the following text.On the basis of the research findings discussed above, the author makes suggestions forthe practical English classroom teaching on the modality application in junior school.It should be pointed out that the study itself has its limitations such as the limitation ofthe subjects of the research. Therefore, more studies should be done in the future. |
