| With the continuous development of globalization and the expansion of internationalcollaboration, the standards for qualified elites are becoming higher and higher. English, as aninternational language requires more talents who ensure a probable amount of Englishlanguage proficiency. To some extent, oral English is the reflection of English communicativecompetence, and the level of which also indicates some problems and deficiencies existing inEnglish teaching. At present, oral English teaching in senior high school is still in a passivestate. Owing to the traditional English teaching model and the College Entrance Examination,the majority of teachers and students pay less attention to oral English. English languageproficiency contains the fundamental knowledge of English and English communicativecompetence. When students acquire linguistic knowledge to a certain level, they need topractice them constantly to enhance and consolidate them. Only in using the knowledgeproperly and freely can they master the language thoroughly, and language teaching has trulyreached its training goal.According to an analysis and summary of the current English teaching methods and thestatus of the domestic oral English teaching models, the author investigates the teachingresources and teaching methods in the school for my internship. By studying the situationabout oral English teaching and exploring the oral English teaching model in high school, theauthor practices the new oral English teaching model---Visual Public Speaking. Finally,students can master this new oral English learning model by application and decomposition.The new model includes three phases: pre-learning, while-learning and after-learning,meanwhile, each phase of Visual Public Speaking contains three steps: the beginning, themiddle part and the end. Visual Public Speaking combines knowledge of English publicspeaking, multimedia application and classroom management as one. It makes the studentspractice oral English extremely, stimulates students’ enthusiasm, and develops their abilitiesof language organization and expression. Eventually, students’ English comprehensiveabilities will be greatly enhanced. |
