The British women’s higher education has100years history since it has been generated from the second half of the nineteenth Century. The process of development is long, arduous and unprosperous. Twentieth Century is a flourishing period for British women’s higher education, the social, economic, political, educational and other conditional factors in this period work together to promote the rapid development of the British women’s higher education. In twentieth Century, the factors of more labor needed by Britain industrialized economy, society force, the support of feminist movement, relevant laws formulated by the British government, women’s demand for higher education and so on, make the British women disengaged from the traditional role orientation and formed a colorful blueprint of the twentieth Century of the British women’s higher education. Higher education endowed British female the rights of emancipation of knowledge, awaken the revolt consciousness in them, so that they bear more than the family role. This kind of higher education changed the life of twentieth Century British women in all aspects. However, it is not fully realized the true meaning of the equality of men and women both from the field of education or outside. From this point, this article research on the uncompleted historical revolution to enlighten Chinese women’s higher education.In this paper, except the part of introduction and conclusion, there are five parts. The introduction part mainly includes the research origin, definition of related concepts, the literature review at home and abroad, research ideas and methods. The first part analyzed the developmental history and status of twentieth Century British women’s higher education. The second part afford theoretical basis for this article from the aspects of the feminist epistemology, social gender theory and patriarchy theory. The third part discussed the related issues of twentieth Century British women’s higher education from the microcosmic point. It is include the financing problem of female college students, occupation development of female college student, coeducation, and female teachers’ status in college. The fourth part summed up the main features form the historical process of British women’s higher education in twentieth Century. The fifth part analyzed the achievements of British women higher education development in the twentieth Century and the enlightenment it give to Chinese women’s higher education.
