Abstract/Summary:
Chinese literacy education forms a very important part of literacy education in the world. Although Chinese literacy education has met many setbacks in its historical development, its achievements have attracted worldwide attention. Summering the literacy experience since the founding of New China and gaining a new method of a new mechanism and new ideas for innovative literacy are very meaningful and necessary research topics. Previous scholars emphasized more the macro level on the historical development of literacy education in China than the deep and systematic research in comparison of the historical development of literacy teaching content. During the period 1949-1989, China’s literacy teaching content development was in a very important period. Now, removing the residual illiteracy comes into more and more difficult the critical stage, but the enthusiasm of the community literacy education has gradually become a gloomy state. I chose literacy teaching content of the historical period of development as a research topic, and looking forward to obtain the experience and inspiration from the experience of the historical development of literacy teaching content.From 1949 to 1989, the literacy campaign has focused on generalizing how to learn to read, and ever reached four climax of eliminating illiteracy in the history of China, it has gained the outstanding achievements by the leader of party and government. During China’s Cultural Revolution, although the literacy campaign almost has been discontinued under special political environment, it even appeared setback. Until 1978, as the center of the national policy, the third plenary session of the reform and opening up through taking economic construction, the party and government have drawn great attention to literacy campaign once again, it has been considered as a basic educational policy for improving scientific and cultural level of the whole nation. It was a good period that Illiteracy education has developed vigorously and successfully eliminated a plenty of illiteracy among young and middle-aged people, to such an extent as to improve the ability of amateur study of minding worker and to bring science and technology culture to farmers in rural, especially a lot of minorities living in remote mountainous areas. Literacy campaign has gained outstanding results and improved the quality of nation significantly again, which made a great contribution. In 1982, literacy education was formally written in the constitution, which has been formally established.Discussion is introspection on experience of success and failure. It is extremely useful and helpful for today learning. From 1949 to 1989, literacy education stimulated the interest in leaning science and technology knowledge for whole social citizen.The literacy education raised enormous enthusiasm at the highest level in the history of China. Therefore, it is extremely helpful to summarize teaching experiences and bringing vitality for developing current literacy education. Literacy education became not only a citizen’s welfare, but also helped learner to reach better life. In short, it is available to lifelong learning that working would be developed persistently.Therefore, it is clearly draw a conclusion that it is very important and significant to research the special 40 year’s history of literacy education. This thesis would focus on the different traits of teaching content of different period orientation, through collecting and studying to contrast the information and materials of teaching content of illiteracy education during this period 1949 to 1989. The thesis would follow the successful experiences and avoid the failures during 40 years in order to present practical basis for making new illiteracy policy. Thus, efficiency methods will stimulate interest in learning, and it truly reflects the value of literacy education and the humanitarian spirit.
