With the globalization of economy and internationalization of higher education,sino-foreign cooperation in education emerges as the demand for international talentsgrows rapidly. The cooperation can benefit us greatly by introducing high qualityforeign educational resources and thereby accelerate our educational reform andnarrow the gap in education between us and the developed countries. In the meantime,sino-foreign cooperation in education can help push the reform in the system ofeducational administration forward.Sino-foreign cooperation in education started in the early1980s and took shape inthe early1990s. After China entered WTO, the cooperation grew rapidly in size, levelas well as mode. Nevertheless, as sino-foreign cooperation in education is a newattempt to catch up with the international world under the background of economicglobalization, the differences and conflicts between the old Chinese system andadvanced foreign models incurred some problems and challenges that should not beneglected, affecting the development of sino-foreign cooperation in education to someextent.Based on a survey of the history of sino-foreign cooperation in education and aninvestigation of its present situation and features, this paper proposes some newthoughts and improvement measures, considering the demands of the development ofsino-foreign cooperation as well as that of the society, economy, technology andculture. Through methods including data studies, comparative studies, historicalstudies, case studies, survey research etc., this paper has worked out the key factors ofinfluence and integrated the experiences and advanced modes of successful practicesin its proposals. Hopefully this will be beneficial advice to the development ofsino-foreign cooperation in education and help it grow sustainably, healthily andharmoniously.
