As digital and information-based process moves forward on college campus, theinvolvement of new media provides a brand-new network platform and material as wellas technical surroundings for the campus culture. Compared to traditional networks,new media is known as the "Fifth Media" for the features of large capacity, newcarrier, instant effect and highly interactivity. Moreover, transmitting information in anew way including online chats, blogs, microblogs, podcasts and interactive network TV,new media tools also contribute to the formation of a new cultural trend. How to takethe advantage of the new media tools in the cultural construction of the college network,especially the unique role of the cultural building at the national college network, is animportant subject to school runners in national higher education at present.There are some differences between the network culture of national college andthat of ordinary colleges, though there exist some common points. The distinguishingbetween the concept of network culture and the college network culture, analysis on thecurrent construction of college network culture, as well as the thinking of opportunitiesand challenges the cultural construction is faced with in the new media era is the logicalstarting point is the study of network cultural construction of national colleges in thenew media era.Under the background of rapid development in computer technology, the culturalconstruction of national college network in the new media environment possesses manyfunctions such as the dissemination of advanced culture, moral cultivation and theinstitution of a platform for communication. However, problems and demerits such as alack of emphasis on the quality of national culture, excessive administration style andinsufficient utilization of new media exist as well. This thesis argues that a scientificpath also a breakthrough to construct national college network culture of distinctivecharacteristics and rich scream lies in network management "Persuasion Rather thanOcclusion", to strengthen their own new media features and to further integrate with campus culture, national culture and Internet culture.This thesis adopts some relative theories of network communication, sociology andother principles, combined with the documental analysis, positivistic research and casestudy to conduct interdisciplinary research, showing some theoretical and practicalsignificance.On the one hand, the construction of Internet culture is mingled hope and fear.College network can not only create a platform for undergraduate education andself-education, but it also provides another new method for teachers to grasp the truestate of students’ mind. However, the increasingly impact of new media suggests thatthere still exist many weak links in the college construction of Internet culture to beimproved. This study conclusion may help to enrich the theory for the construction ofinternet culture in national colleges. On the other hand, this research may also providesome references to the school runners of national colleges, helping them to comprehendthe specificity and necessity of the construction entirely. Moreover, this research mayhelp the leaders a better control in the direction of the Internet cultural construction inthis new media era and then contribute to further safeguard national unity and stability.
