Research On The Social Identity Of The Immigrant Children In Chinese City

Children of immigrant workers has been a group which can not be ignored in contemporary China,the special nature of this group makes them get more and more attention. They faced the socialidentity in the city after they leave their hometown into city with their parents, so, the research onsocial identity of these children is a major issue which is related with their healthy growth.This paper, which rests on the background of children of migrant workers getting into city to starttheir study and life, which uses the D middle school in Zhuhai city as the region studied, analyses apart of children of migrant workers who studied in the D middle school, and explores the condition oftheir social identity. The results show that, they have been full of yearning for city life and graduallyidentities the city they lives, they gradually adapt to the cultural values in the city and their habitshave being assimilated the city life. But, because of the resulting of all kinds of factors, ie: familyelements, the limit of social systems and school’s factor and so on, there still exists a few problems intheir social identity, and started from the macro system reforming and gradual adaptation to improvetheir social identity, promoting them to integrate into the society better and become a real citymember.
