Research On The Development Of Chinese Democratic Parties,1949-1956

All the democratic parties, which are the important parts of the United Front, play an important role in Chinese political arena. What’s more, the democratic parties also participate in construction enterprises actively when the new China was born. They have great influence on building socialism with Chinese characteristics.It has been more than half a century since the People’s Republic was founded. Meanwhile, which development ways have the democratic parties gone through? What is the growth history of participatory party today, what rules did they follow for developing, and what lessons can we learn? All of which are valued questions to explore and study for the construction of democratic parties and political party system in China. From the born of new China in1949to the establishment of the Socialist system in1956, it is not only a transition period for the new China to undergo these changes of socialism to new democracy and the second historic changes of the achievement in20th century, but also an important growth period for democratic parties. It is particularly necessary to study the developments of democratic parties, to make rational understanding and thinking and to enlighten the contemporary.The research of this paper begins with the period that Chinese multi-party cooperation and political consultation system were built. The paper comprehensively analyzes several items in the early years of new China. Firstly, it is the grim situation at home and abroad at that time. Secondly, it is the political environment and the self-condition of the democratic parties. Then it systematically hackles the development of the democratic parties from1949to1956. According to the article, with the existence of the multi-party cooperation system, the democratic parties not only obtained the legitimate political status, but also changed from the national bourgeoisie and petty bourgeoisie and intellectuals’class alliance party to political alliance party, which was under the leadership of Chinese Communists. They became the major force to provide service to the society construction. Consequently, the political attribute has been transformed during those years. Thanks to the help of Chinese Communists, the democratic parties actively improved their ideology, rectified their organization, changed their life style and formulated their rules and regulations to strengthen their own political construction, all of which has achieved unprecedented developments. The democratic parties also actively joined in the socialist revolution, construction and transformation, which fulfilled the function of political participation and democratic oversight and played the political party function actually. Under the special historical background, the development of democratic parties presented some characteristics of times. For example, the parties were constructed and reformed at the same time. What’s more, they developed comprehensively and normatively, all of which were preceded within the framework of multiparty cooperation system leaded by Chinese Communists. Although there were some problems during the period that the democratic parties developed themselves, the overall development trend was good. Historical experiences has shown that keeping pace with times, improving the party’s leadership, strengthen the multi-party cooperation system, and continuously improving the self-construction of democratic parties, have always been the important guarantee for the healthy development of democratic parties.
