As it is known,“infringement” is counterpart of “right-safeguarding” in modern society.Since the issue of Constitution of the People’s Republic of China, the laws aiming toprotect the rights of citizens are improved continuously. In1990, Copyright Law of thePeople’s Republic of China demonstrating the importance attached on, marking thebeginning of paying attention on copyright was adopted. But in this field, there are someproblems in this copy law, which need to be solved.Since the enactment of Copyright Law of the People’s Republic of China,“topicalnews” has never been put under the protection of laws. Although the law was amended, there was nothing changed to the truth that “topical news” has not been protected bycopyright laws. Article five of Copyrights of the People’s Republic of China provides thattopical news is the simple factual events reported by newspapers, journals, radio, televisionand other media. Because of the unprotection of copyrights law, topical news are reprintedand the order of news bogged into the chaos, which brought about two problems: one is thecloning of news which is in shortage of the analysis in different standpoints; another one isthe damage to the interests of original writers of the news. This thesis focuses on the infringement phenomenon on “current events” and analyzesthrough the method of comparative analysis, empirical analysis method and other methodsin the field of news reporting. This thesis tries to find out infringement mode andcharacteristics of domestic news infringement by comparing the laws on “current events”and analyzing the cases of the infringement of domestic news so as to give somesuggestions on the protection of the copyrights of news in China.
